When the bell rings for lunch, you expect to get on the lunch line go through with ease, sit down and enjoy lunch with your friends. But here at North Springs High School, the lunch lines are so long that sometimes it’s nearly impossible to get through them.
Imagine waiting 30 to 20 minutes just to get lunch, and when you sit down it’s already time to go. Well, I think more lunch periods should be added so that students here can have enough time to get their food, sit down and eat before the next class. Also, I think that adding more lunch periods would make the lunchroom less chaotic because so much is going on and it’s hard to maneuver through everyone.
Why did the lunch periods change from last year, when they apparently had three? Since I’m new, I came to the conclusion that lunch periods have changed from three to two because it might’ve been hard to manage three lunches throughout the entirety of 3rd period, especially since some teachers do lunch duty. Students probably didn’t have enough time to eat then during 25–30-minute lunches even if lunch lines were less busy.
One solution is that the school could also ultimately consider hiring more lunch ladies. More lunch ladies would mean a faster and more efficient lunch line.
Right now, there are only about four lunch ladies who manage the food and three who manage kids paying, which makes the line even longer than they should be and why it takes an unreasonable amount of time to get a meal.
More people would have enough time to eat instead of rushing, and there would be less chaos throughout the lunchroom. There would be more open seats, and less standing and crowding around tables.
As stated before, more lunch ladies being hired could fix this issue, as could more lunches being added to third period. could fix this issue also. We need to find the best solution to our crazy lunch situation before we all go hungry from waiting so long on the lines.
