Ever hear people playing music or see them performing in the commons in the morning? It’s called Art in the Courtyard, where students get to perform every first Thursday of the month.  

If music is a form of art, and art is a form of expression, then Art of the Courtyard is an important outlet for students to express themselves through music and song in school for a public audience. All students with an interest in music or performing can participate in Art in the Courtyard by speaking to Mrs. Dinovic, North Springs’ guitar teacher.  

Students who perform provide a wide range of music in different genres, including classics, rock, and jazz. Sophomore Kiera Barrett, the student organizer of Art in the Courtyard, believe students should know the importance of this special presentation of music and its positive impact on the culture at North Springs. 

Bartlett says, “It’s important because students get to hear different mixes of genres and interact with each other when preforming.”

She adds, “Art in the Courtyard is a safe place for students to express themselves through music and create wonderful music.”  

Art in the Courtyard performances have sparked students’ love of music.  It serves as a place where students can discover themselves and how they connect with it and with each other. Students take Art in the Courtyard as an opportunity to find their passion and pursue it. 

Regan Fizell, a sophomore participant in Art in the Courtyard, says, “Art in the Courtyard is how I started getting into music and performing, and [gave me] my love for performing. 

Other students who participate include: Tauri Pineda, Solomon Morgan, Evelyn Brown, Yulie Maimon, Brad Cruz, Isaac Linnen.
