Compared to last year, out staff has grown exponentially and has gained many new faces, personalities, and writing styles. We are very excited to welcome so many new individuals to our staff, and we look forwards to working with all of them. Introducing, the Oracle staff of 2021-2022!
Courtney Suber: Pre-covid I introduced myself as the Editor-in-Chief of the North Springs Oracle as well as an individual obsessed with reality TV and rowing… and a year later I can tell you that that HASN’T changed. I am the Chief Editor for the North Springs Oracle for the 2nd year in a row!!) I’ve upgraded from lousy junior to swanky senior, measly 16 to mature 17, and I’m excited for yet another year with the Oracle and our booming and bustling staff.
I still wish to approach politics as well as countrywide sociopolitical issues in the way that I did before, but also with a much more investigative and harrowing lense as well. As we say in rowing when you’re dying in the midst of a 4 minute on 1 minute off piece, and you’re in the last 30 seconds of the final four minutes, “last one fast one,” and I hope to leave an everlasting and productive impression this school year.

Emily Papleux: Hello fellow Oracle readers! My name is Emily Papleux, and I’m the Senior Editor in the newspaper staff. If any of you know me, or have even seen me in the hallways, you’ll know that I love books, I carry one with me everywhere I go (you never know when you’ll get extremely bored). I love cherishing good food, and happy moments with my mom. I grew up in Florida, so I’m a regular universal, Disney, and SeaWorld local. I love doing book reviews, and awareness pieces. I hope this year will be full of great connections and friendships, and even greater achievements for the newspaper.
Abby Simon: I am a freshman at North Springs. This is my first year in journalism for the newspaper and I’m excited to see how this class goes. I am a swimmer and have been swimming for about eight years now. I skipped first grade, so I’m a year younger than most. This gives me a different outlook on things and helps give other views than my peers. I enjoy writing opinion pieces along with free writing. I have lived in Sandy Springs my whole life and I enjoy it here. Living here has taught me many things that I hope to be able to incorporate in writing. I am excited to see what this year brings us.
Andrew Mbow: This my first year in journalism. I play baseball at North Springs High School; I pitch and I play second base. I am a sophomore and am trying to get into writing. I plan on developing writing skills here to help me improve in the writing world. I enjoy going outside and walking as well as swimming during the summer. I also enjoy working out with my friends; my favorite exercise is bench press.
Chizoba Emmanuel: Normally you start with an attention grabber, but this is my first time doing one of these. Let’s start with an introduction. My name is Chizoba Emmanuel. I’m 15 years old, currently a sophomore enrolled at North Springs High School. I’m Nigerian and I’ve always lived in Atlanta my whole life. During my free time, I make up choreography to any song. I also play multiple sports. I am bilingual. Trying new things isn’t always the best experience for me. I honestly don’t have much to say, but what I will say is that I’m excited to see what this school year brings me.
Gabriela Linehan: Hi, I’m Gabriela, and I’m a writer. Haha, it feels like I’m talking in a support group. I like to write. A lot. A lot of my writing is sort of mythical. If you know what I mean. If you don’t, I like to write fiction with myths like vampires, werewolves, witches, or gods… etc. I like to read fantasy/sci-fi. I also like to write that, too. My current favorite Author is Tahereh Mafi. I’m kind of one of those people who, once you get into something, it’s the only focus. Well, I hope to meet the reader of this. Toodles!
Nathan Dollinger: My Name is Nathan Dollinger and I am 14 years old. I am a Freshman at North Springs Charter Highschool in Sandy Springs, Georgia. I have lived in Georgia my whole life, but I travel to New York alot. My family is a big Atlanta sports family. I am very close with my family. My favorite things in life are playing baseball and spending time with family. In middle school, I never really wrote anything, but I am curious to see what this class brings.
Niara Bishop – Gantt: Hey , my name is Niara I go by “Nunuu” . I’m from Charleston, South Carolina I would like to go to Georgia tech for business , I am aspiring upcoming nail tech. I would say that I enjoy reading about others lives or writing about people lives. I believe that writings is easy but kind of hard because you have to make sure you make sense and you have make sure everything is perfect. I’m not a very strong writer but I wanted to make a change about that and start writing.
Phoenix C. Rivera: I’m Phoenix and I really reaallyy like art. When I say I love art, I mean it. Photography, Ceramics, Music, Musicals (Be More Chill and Hamilton are my favorites), Drawing, and especially the art of the social economy. I love talking and getting to know the people around me and they’re opinions (even if they’re pretty bad…) I’m very shy, but if you get to know me, I’m quite outgoing. One of my goals in this class is to become even more outgoing and share my opinions unapologetically. I definitely would like to create a show/podcast about trending topics, economic climates, all types of activism, a little bit of paranormal stories and even funny things like reactions toward a bad celeb haircut. I’d like to be the voice for those that don’t have one, though this isn’t my main goal. I’d actually like to become a fashion model, but this will 100% help me get started. I can’t wait for this year :D!
Sarah Meiselman: My name is Sarah Meiselman, and I am in 9th grade here at North Springs. Obviously, I am new to the school, but I look forward to becoming more involved, especially in the Oracle. For the Oracle, I am interested in writing news articles, mostly pertaining to national news, for the purpose of both entertaining and informing readers. I have always lived in Sandy Springs, Georgia, but I love to travel and learn about other cultures. When describing myself, the first topic I think of is my love to do anything artistic, but especially writing and painting. Reading is also a major hobby of mine, especially reading any dystopian novel. I am always taking my dogs on walks while listening to true crime podcasts. I’m excited for my first year here and being a part of the school newspaper.
Skyy Minnifield: My name is Skyy Minnifield this is my first year at North Springs high school. I was born in Alt, Georgia and currently live with my mother. One thing about me is I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters on my dad’s side and one sister about to be born on my mom’s side. I am the oldest on both my mom and dad’s side. My favorite show to watch is apocalyptic shows like the walking dead, z nation, k dramas, and watch true crimes that are solved. I love to draw and play video games. I have played basketball for 2 years playing the position center, I would also like to try playing other sports. My current goals are just to pass, try my best to have more confidence in myself and be more outgoing.
Winfred Odhiambo: Hello, Its Winfred Odhiambo coming to you from North Springs High. I am a sophomore and currently in my 1st year of being apart of the journalism community. I like to sing and dance and model and…. Nah im just playin. I like to watch TV…… like a lot of TV, preferably anime, I watch anime WAY too much, its pretty healthy if you ask me 😊 then again no one does. I read books too, but I’m way too picky with them, romance, dystopian, fantasy, Sci- Fi is a big NO NO, but mystery/thriller/suspense, horror, and true crime……. Now we are talking. Those are the BEST genres in the history of books, you can’t tell me any different. I also love researching, I would hope one day I can publish an research paper about real world issues and different types of mental illness, especially OCD, insomnia and personality disorder. Anyways, hope you got the jist of me. Welcome to Oracle.
